I + AP = C

Has it ever hit you?
One day you are reading a verse that you have read a million times (okay more like 100 times) and God blindsides you with this deep message that seemed to elude your consciousness all of these years.

So check this story out.
Cast: The children of Isreal, Aaron, Moses, God's finger, God's back
Location: Foot of Mount Sinai
Props: Jewelry, tablets of stone, golden calf etc

You know the story and so do I, Exodus chapter 32 but pay close attention to the opening verse

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."(NIV)

Did you get it
Okay try again with the Message Translation (i'll give you one hint)
When the people realized that Moses was taking forever in coming down off the mountain, they rallied around Aaron and said, "Do something. Make gods for us who will lead us. That Moses, the man who got us out of Egypt—who knows what's happened to him?"

Do you think you have it, okay last hint this time in the King James Version
Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

We've always focused on the golden calf and the 10 Commandments, but verse 1 sets the whole stage

i don't want to spoil it for you but it's almost midnight so I'll just write it
I + AP = C :Impatience + Amnesiac Perception = Compromise

1. Moses was taking forever: They were impatient
2. The man who brought us: Amnesiac Perceptions They forgot who really brought them out of Egypt.

Fast forward a couple thousand years

He immigrated to the US, tried to get a job in his field but no one wanted to accept his credentials. The friend who helped him get a visitors visa is nowhere to be found. So what does he do? He falsifies documents in order to get a position he isn't qualified for.

Her biological clock is ticking (tick tick tock) and there is no one at the door knocking asking to take her to dinner. Her match making friends are too busy with their kids and so when he shows up at 2 a.m. she lets him in.
I + AP = C :Impatience + Amnesiac Perception = Compromise

We might not build physical golden calf, we might never do something noticeable by man, but when the clock is ticking and it seems like those who helped us in the past are nowhere to be found, we sell that which is precious to us, our dignity, our integrity, our virtue, in an attempt to fill the void.

One thought leads to another and then Impatience takes over ushering in Frustration who is elated and proceeds to build a wall thus obscuring our view and preventing us to see our True Helper.

Enough said.

GOD BLESS YOU!!!! Aiye, yai, yai...

I have been studying the Old testament too... and this is profound. The whole message is Obedience, patience and NOT COMPROMISING. It's amazing, yesterday, in prayer meeting, our prayer point was is OBEDIENCE to God's will and banishing the enemy within us that leads us to compromise through impatience! aaaaaaargh! once you have spoken Baba a thousand times I have heard oh!

Okay, let me go and write up that post which puts another spin on this!

Thank you and God blessyou for sharing.. much luv
Let me go and write up that post...

Ok..ok. I get it. Patience is very important.

But lets think abt it for a sec, the guy with the visa, should he have waited till he was deported?
Im not condoning the alternative, just wondering...WHEN exactly does it become compromise???

Lol @ Vixen...(I concur)...

See how it all boils down to our impatience when the clock is TICKING. Then we turn to other gods because the God we no longer know (amnesiac perception) is wasting our time.

Favorite post for today. Permit me to rename this as "AMNESIAC PERCEPTIONS" on my side-bar. Really cool post.

Oh, that first song on your playlist is slowly becoming my favorite on the radio these days...

@ Jaycee: i have to stop listening to it so that i don't overdo it and get tired of it, just the part about afflictions eclipsed by glory brings tears to my eyes.

@ Fabulo-la: i ask the same question. I live in Houston where I'm surrounded by people (esp. naija people) who are constantly cutting corners and then giving God the praise even tho' you know they lied and cheated to get that position.
The way i see it now is that it is a slippery slope. You are starving and steal bread does not condemn you to hell but today it's bread, tomorrow it is jewelry and before you know it constant compromise has become your lifestyle. That to me is the problem. we can't control what happens when we go out into the devil's territory and compromise is his way of luring us in.
Okay so what am i saying
It's hard, i'm not going to lie, i sit down some days and wonder AND CRY about how much more successful i would be if i compromised like i was advised by pastors and friends but then in that self pity mode and angry at God mode i realize that this whole thing is about surrender and if i can't surrender this situation to Him what does my Christianity mean

@ Vixen: will you join my church? LOL and give a BIG OFFERING oooooooooo

@ Rita: God is good (GIG)

# Remi: :) LOL, i will stop by later today and read it oooo, i really need to go and study now

@ Remzo: i don't know which one is harder for me, attributing my success to others or being impatient.

Jason Upton's song is one of my favorites too...ahhhh today is a day of favorites. "Lord, I will wait for you NO MATTER WHAT...You're the SUN in my HORIZON."

I'll remember this; though I'll maybe just make it "forgetfulness". Abraham was like this wasn't he, and brought on all the problems of Ishmael because of it.

And I certainly agree that you can read the same Scripture hundreds of time and still get some fresh insight. I think it happens every time I read Luke 15 especially. The Word of God is living ...
